The Third $30 million US MQ-9 drone crashed in Yemen : U.S. military official

 

A U.S. Air Force MQ-9 drone crashed in Yemen early Friday morning, US CBS News quoted a U.S. military official, who updated earlier information that indicated that it had crashed off the coast. An investigation into the incident is underway.

According to the official, there were no reported injuries.

The Yemeni forces took responsibility Friday for shooting down the drone today in a Statement .

” The air defense forces of the Yemeni Armed Forces have also shot down an American MQ9 unmanned aerial vehicle in the airspace of Saada Governorate, while it was carrying out hostile missions and it was targeted with a suitable missile” , Yemeni military spokesman Yahya Saree said in a statemen published on Friday evening.

Accourding to US CBS News Repprt ,  Houthis have brought down two other MQ-9s — both off the coast of Yemen — since November, the first in early November and then another in February.

Each drone costs roughly $30 million, according to the Congressional Research Service, CBS Added .
