The American billionaire and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, predicted the rapid development of artificial intelligence and that a system that will exceed the capabilities of the human brain could emerge as early as 2025-2026.
Musk noted on Monday evening, April 8, during an interview with Nicolai Tangin, CEO of Norway’s sovereign wealth fund, that “AI smarter than smartest person will probably emerge next year.”
Musk believes that AI systems could surpass the capabilities of all humans combined in the next five years.
However, there are also serious obstacles to the development of artificial intelligence, for example, a shortage of chips, the Financial Times reported.
Musk stressed that so far, the development of technology is slowing down due to the lack of the necessary microchips, especially Nvidia chips, which are absolutely essential for the operation and training of artificial intelligence. Another limiting factor was the limited capacity of the electrical grid. However, these restrictions have recently begun to weaken, and in a year or two the most serious problem will be the potential electricity shortage.
