S-300 missiles system was unloaded from Russian planes in the coastal airbase of Hmeimim, pursuant to a former decision taken by the Russian Defense Ministry.

Russian Defense Minister, Sergey Shoygu, told President Vladimir Putin that the process of delivering S-300 missiles to Syria has been concluded, confirming that the Syrian Army is now in possession of the system.

Shoygu added that the Syrian Army received four S-300 air defense systems, as well as 49 pieces of radars, vehicles and launchers.
“Syrian Amy officers will be trained to use the upgraded missiles within 3 months”, Shoygu commented, “a unified system for the Syrian air defenses shall also be established by October 20”.
Russia decided to supply Syria with S-300 missiles after the downing of Russian IL-20 plane off the Syrian coast on September 18.
The IL-20 was mistakenly shot down by Syrian air defense after an Israeli F-16 took cover of the Russian plane.
