Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday issued a decree dismissing nine senior generals and two colonels from high-level positions in various federal and regional security committees.

According to Russia Today, the decree, which has been published on the government’s legal information website, had replaced nine generals and two colonels from the Interior and Emergency Situations ministries and the Investigative Committee.

Under the presidential decree, Major General Oleg Elinich was appointed head of the General Directorate for Combating Extremism in the Russian Interior ministry and Major General Valentina Kazakova, Director of the General Directorate for Immigration Affairs of the same ministry.
