The image was widely circulated on social media platforms, and was welcomed by the daughter of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Turkish activists circulated the image under the name “Aleppo 82” in reference to considering the city of Aleppo a new Turkish province.

Perhaps the image of the Turkish flag on the Aleppo Citadel revived the Ottomans’ dream of establishing the Ottoman state again.

It is noteworthy that the city of Aleppo was subjected to a major attack launched by militants affiliated with the Nusra Front and other forces supported by Turkey, which led to the withdrawal of the Syrian army from the city and the militants taking control of it.
