The Russian FighterBomber channel, which specializes in warplanes, published photographs of the FAB-9000 heavy bombs, which weigh 9 tons.

There are two versions of this bomb, manufactured in 1950 and 1954. The two versions differ in the shape of the head and the aerodynamic specifications.

It could only be used by giant bombers of the Cold War era, such as the Tu-16, 3M, and Tu-95 in their early versions. Each bomb carried 4 tons of explosives.

Therefore, it was equipped with 4 detonators. Even this number was incapable of detonating 4 tons of explosives, as after testing the FAB-9000 bomb at the test site, scattered fragments of trotyl were noticed.

Another FAB-9000 bomb is on display at the Museum of Long-Range Aircraft in Russia’s Ryazan region, but access there is limited.
