Israel orders its soldiers to leave Georgia and Azerbaijan immediately

The Israeli army has asked its soldiers and officers in Georgia and Azerbaijan to leave immediately and not to travel to the two countries for fear of any retaliation by Iran.

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation said that the army is conducting an ongoing assessment of the security situation and updating the list of countries to which Israelis are prohibited from traveling in light of the current security situation.

The Israeli decision comes as part of the security measures and precautions that Israel is taking in anticipation of an Iranian attack in response to the assassination of the head of the political bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, and in response by Hezbollah to the assassination of the Hezbollah’s leader Fouad Shukr in Beirut.

In contrast, the Azerbaijani media authority denied “the presence of military units of any foreign country” on its territory, adding, “Some countries publish incorrect information in the media, and we strongly condemn the manipulation of this,” without mentioning the names of those countries.

Earlier, the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper quoted a senior diplomat as saying that Israel fears that Iran and Hezbollah may target Israelis abroad or diplomats and Tel Aviv embassies.

The newspaper quoted the source as saying, “Our situation is very serious regarding the envoys abroad, and many of them feel threatened.”
