China’s Chang’e 6 successfully lands on the Moon.

At 22:23 UTC, the Chang’e 6 spacecraft touched down on the far side of the Moon. Now awaiting photos from the robotic lander.

Chang’e 6 will conduct the first ever lunar far side sample return mission, returning lunar regolith back to Earth around June 25.

Chang’e 6 is China’s 4th successful Moon landing in a row, with Chang’e 7 and 8 planned for 2026 and 2028, respectively, to begin development of a robotic research station near the Moon’s South Pole.

The space agency aims to land their first astronauts on the Moon before 2030.
