Oil Tanker Hit by Yemeni Missile Off the Coast of Yemen

An oil tanker was hit by a missile off the coast of Yemen, Agence France-Presse reported.

The vessel was near the Bab el-Mandeb strait about 10 nautical miles (19 kilometers) southwest of the city of Mokha, the report said Saturday, citing maritime security firm Ambrey.

A huge fire broke out on the ship as a result of the attack, Ambre says .

Eariler this morning , A vessel in the Red Sea was struck by an unknown object and sustained slight damage, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency said early on Saturday.

“The vessel and crew are safe and continuing to its next port of call,” it said in an advisory note.

It added that the incident occurred 76 nautical miles northwest of Yemen’s Hodeidah, Reuters reported.
