UK sends Typhoon jets to Romania to intercept Russian warplanes

The United kingdom has deployed six Eurofighter (Typhoon) fighters to Romania to monitor Russian Aerospace Force aircraft, according to a statement from the Royal Air Force.

More than 200 British troops will be at Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base to serve the air group, which must be on constant alert.

“Personnel involved in the mission will be ready at any time to begin intercepting Russian aircraft approaching NATO airspace based on a rapid reaction alert,” the statement said.
