Russia demands urgent imposition of sanctions on Israel

Russia’s Permanent Representative to the Security Council Vassily Nebenzia stressed that the Council must urgently consider the issue of imposing sanctions on Israel for non-compliance with the Council’s resolution on a ceasefire in Ramadan.

Nebenzia said during a Security Council session on Wednesday: “We remind you once again that non-compliance with mandatory Security Council resolutions must lead to sanctions against violators. We believe that the Council should consider this issue without delay.”

He noted that UN Security Council Resolution 2728, which demanded a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip within Ramadan, had not been implemented.
