According to the seismic monitoring application, an earthquake with magnitude 7  hit New Guinea

New Guinea is a large island located in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, northern Australia.

It is the second largest island in the world after Greenland. The western half of the island is ruled by Indonesia, and the rest of the island accounts for most of the size of Papua New Guinea, which gained independence from Australia in 1975.
