Syrian army foils Nusra's suicide attack in northern Hama

The Syrian Arab Army foiled a big attack launched by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) former Nusra front using suicide bombers in northern Hama countryside.
Syrian military source told Muraselon News that HTS militants tried to attack the Syrian army at al-Athar military checkpoint near rebel-held Qalaat al-Madiq town in the north-western countryside of Hama.
According to the source, heavy clashes erupted between the Syrian army and HTS terrorists using heavy and medium weapons, where HTS tried to infiltrate the army position using a couple of suicide bombers who were spotted by the army units who managed to kill them before reaching their targets.
The source added that tens of militants were killed and injured in the failed attack while one Syrian army soldier was killed in the clashes.
The attack came just few hours following another failed attack by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham in west Aleppo city where HTS fighters tried to attack the Syrian army near the research center. As a result, 3 militants were killed and couple others injured.
Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and other jihadists groups continue to violate the de-escalation zone agreement signed by Russia and Turkey in September 2018 by attacking the Syrian government-held areas and the Syrian army positions in both Idlib and Hama provinces.
