Israel to Release Syrian Prisoners following return of Israeli Soldier's remains

Israel will release two Syrian prisoners after the return earlier this month of the remains of an Israeli soldier lost in a 1982 battle, an Israeli official said Saturday.
The Israeli official said the prisoner release would take place as a “goodwill gesture,” adding that the decision was only made in recent days.
Russia this month handed over the remains of Zachary Baumel to Israel, who was 21 when he was declared missing in action along with two other soldiers in the Battle of Sultan Yacoub during Israel’s invasion of Lebanon.

The official did not provide details about the identity of the prisoners and said that the decision to release them was made after Baumel’s remains were recovered.
