Russia's latest Su-57 stealth fighter to be put in service very soon

The Russian Air Force is expected to take delivery of the first Sukhoi Su-57 fighter jet, Russia’s first purported indigenously designed and built fifth-generation stealth fighter jet, in 2019. According to the Deputy CEO of the Sukhoi Aircraft Company Alexander Pekarsh.

“If we speak about the Su-57 program, we are today at the stage of manufacturing the first serial planes,” Pekarsh began. “I am confident that we will cope with the task and the first serial-produced plane will be delivered this year,” he said.

The Su-57 is a fifth-generation multirole fighter designed to destroy all types of air targets at long and short distances and hit enemy ground and naval targets, overcoming its air defense capabilities.

The Su-57 combines the functions of an attack plane and a fighter jet while the use of composite materials and innovation technologies and the fighter’s aerodynamic configuration ensure the low level of radar and infrared signature.

The fifth-generation fighter jet has been successfully tested in combat conditions in Syria.
