ISIS claims the deadly attack against Kurdish forces in Manbij

Nine fighters of the Kurdish Manbij Military Council were killed in a midnight “terror attack” on a checkpoint in the Syrian city of Manbij, the force announced Tuesday morning.
“A terrorist attack was staged on one of the checkpoints inside the city of Manbij at midnight and as a result seven fighters on guard duty were martyred,” the Manbij Military Council said in a statement.
Later on, ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack saying their fighters attacked a checkpoint for the Kurdish forces on Manbij-Aleppo road in western axis of the city, adding that 9 Kurdish fighters were killed in the attack and their weapons were seized.
A number of other fighters were also injured, some critically, so the death toll may rise.
Last week, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) declared the end of the so-called ISIS caliphate in a ceremony in eastern Deir ez-Zor province on March 23.
