The United States seeks more than $ 300 million from Syria

A US court has found Syrian government responsible for the death of American war correspondent Marie Colvin in February 2012, and ordered Damascus to pay more than $ 300 million in damages for her family.

Marie Colvin and French photographer Remi Ochlik died in 2012 while covering the battles in Homs city. In July 2016, Colvin’s family filed a lawsuit in Washington against the Syrian government, accusing the authorities of targeting broadcasting studio where Colvin and other journalists were working.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said earlier that Marie Colvin had arrived in the country illegally and her death was a coincidence.
