The Syrian security authorities have foiled an attempt to smuggle huge quantities of precious artifacts, dating back thousands of years, while trying to transfer them from Daraa city south of Syria to Saudi Arabia.

According to the Sputnik News Agency, the Syrian authorities have foiled an attempt to smuggle hundreds of precious artifacts from Syria to Saudi Arabia via Jordan.

Investigations are under way with members of the gang to find out the quantities and types of the artifacts they have smuggled out of the country, especially to the Gulf states during the years of war.
