Air defenses shot down three drones over Hmeimim base in Syria

Explosions were heard in and around the Hmeimim air base on Sunday as a result of the air defenses’ response to an attack by terrorist drones, sources in Lattakia, west of Syria, confirmed to the Muraselon site.

Sputnik quoted a military source as saying that the Russian air defenses targeted three drones approaching the Hmeimim air base in Lattakia.

The source confirmed that the Russian monitoring units have been able to track the drones since its launch from the area between the north-eastern Lattakia countryside and Jisr al-Shughur in Idlib countryside, stressing that all the drones had been modified in advance.

According to the source, the Russian air defenses managed to down the drones in the vicinity of the Hmeimim air base through traditional missile defenses.

The Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced this month that Russia considers it necessary to end the fight against terrorism, especially in the Idlib region, and that the militants are continuing their attempts to attack the Hmeimim air base in Syria.

Worth to note that the last attack by terrorist drones on the Hmeimim air base was on August 30, where the Russian air defenses shot down several drones launched by terrorist groups from the countryside of eastern Lattakia.
