Syria looks to put its first foothold in space by launching satellite

Syria Minister of Communications and Technology Engineer Iyad al-Khatib revealed on Wednesday plans to launch the first Syrian satellite.

The minister said in statement published on the ministry’s website that Syria deserves to have a role in the field of space research.

He explained that “the launch of the first Syrian satellite, like other Arab countries, is one of the main objectives of the ministry.”

Khatib stressed that “the Commission must develop the necessary strategy to own a space program.”

It is noteworthy that this came during a meeting between Minister Khatib and the technical staff of the General Authority for Remote Sensing after his visit to the Commission and review the projects carried out by.
