Russian military deploys killer laser that can instantly vaporize targets (Video)

The Russian military has just begun operational deployment of a hard-kill laser weapon which can reportedly destroy hostile targets “within fractions of a second” according to official military sources.

The system, designated ‘Peresvet‘, was announced on March 1 of this year by Russian president Vladimir Putin during a state of the nation address. At the time, it was unclear when exactly the laser complex would enter actual Russian military service.

Peresvet is manned by specially trained crews which conduct weapon familiarization at the Mozhaysky Military Space Academy.

Speaking to the Russian state media outlet Tass, Deputy Defence Minister Yuri Borisov claimed that Peresvet can destroy hostile targets “within fractions of a second”.

“We can talk a lot about laser weapons and movies were made about them a long time ago and fantastic books have been written, and everyone knows about this … But, the fact that these systems have started entering service is indeed a today’s reality”, Borisov stated.

It is unclear in what exact role Peresvet will be used. However, all hints dropped by Russian military officials suggests it will like be deployed as an air defense weapon to protect strategic military assets such as intercontinental ballistic missile sites.
