US-Backed Militants Suffer Casualties in Clashes with Civilians in Deir Ezzor

Two gunmen of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) were killed in a fresh round of fighting with civilians in Northern Deir Ezzor on Wednesday.

The SDF fought with residents of the small town of Abu al-Nital East of Deir Ezzor city that left two SDF gunmen dead and a civilian injured.

The clashes came after the SDF attacked a group of civilians that were protesting against the SDF’s arrest operation near the town’s pharmacy.

Field sources, meantime, said that the SDF retreated from the scene but later dispatched more militants and equipment to the town, managing to lay siege on the town and arresting a number of people.

Field sources reported on Monday that a large number of residents in the town of Sweidan in Southeastern Deir Ezzor rallied against the SDF.

They added that the SDF forces fired live rounds at the protestors and surrounded the town, detaining several civilians.

The sources said that the protest rallies were held after the SDF militants destroyed the trade centers of the town, adding that a child was killed and a number of other civilians were wounded in the SDF attack.
