Syrian Army breaks through rebel defenses in the Syrian Golan

The jihadist rebels in the western countryside of Damascus continue to find themselves in deep trouble as the Syrian Army intensifies its military campaign on the insurgent-dominated pocket bordering the Israeli-occupied portion of the Golan Heights.

The formidable 42nd Brigade of the 4th Mechanized Division, known for the decisive victories in Darayya, West Ghouta, and Barada Valley, managed to capture the eastern section of Bardaya Hills following intense bombardment and shelling of rebel fortifications that lasted for hours.

The capture of a portion of the strategic hill chain grants the government forces partial fire control over the jihadist stronghold of Magher Al-Mair.

Expelling the rebel presence from the Golan Heights will secure the loyalists’ logistics and supply routes in southern Syria in addition to freeing up the thousands of soldiers posted on its front lines.
