Syrian presidency praises football players following last match against Australia

The Syrian team forced his Australian counterpart to play 120 minutes, after a match of enthusiasm ended with Hard-won victory of the Kangaroo team [2-1], Syrian presidency sent – via social media – a letter of appreciation praises all members of the Syrian national football team.

“You were the heroes .. You drew joy on the Syrians’ faces .. Eagles of Qassion .. You all the greetings and appreciation” The presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic posted.

During the match, Syria that – gripped by civil war for six years – were missing 5 key players but that did not seem to impede their start as they went ahead by fabulous goal by the striker Omar Al-Soma.

Syria continued to hang on – their task was made more difficult by the dismissal of Mahmoud Al Mawas for a second yellow card – and Alma brilliantly tipped over most of the opponents’ attempts.

At 109th minute during the 2nd extra time, the Syrian goalkeeper could not keep out Cahill’s second header, who led the Australian team to win.
