Syria Map Update: More Army troops pour into Deir Ezzor from southern axis

The Syrian Army continues to overrun the Islamic State militants in the eastern city of Deir Ezzor amid massive jihadi retreat.

Today, the Army units made its way to the city from the Sukhnah-Deir Ezzor highway after liberating Kabajip, Shulla and al-Taym Oil Field following fierce clashes with the battle-hardened militants.

According to a military source, the Army’s engineering units demined the IEDs and explosives near the Panorama area – they had planted earlier to curb ISIS advance – in order to pave the way for the advancing forces.

The recent advance secures yet another supply route to the eastern city through Sukhnah – Panorama – Deir Ezzor highway.

Yesterday, the government forces fought ferocious battles against ISIS jihadists whereby they managed to take over the Cemetery area and eventually several nearby positions.

Meanwhile, the forces advancing from the southern axis have managed to reach for the 137 Brigade while other engineering units began to demine the IEDs ad explosives planted by ISIS along the main highway.
