The Syrian Army has fully regained control over the town of Huwaysis in the eastern countryside of Homs following fierce clashes with the Islamic State.
According to a military source, the government forces recaptured the town after taking over the surrounding hilltops amid massive jihadi retreat.
The same sources added that Russian helicopters hunted down the fleeing militants; killing and wounding scores.
Huwaysis retains a strategic importance as it is situated along the road to Uqayrbat; a major ISIS stronghold in eastern Hama countryside which is now entirely encircled by the Army troops.
