Russian jets pummel ISIS convoy near Deir Ezzor

Up to 200 militants from the Islamic State have been killed as their convoys en route to Deir Ezzor were bombed by precision Russian airstrikes.

“Fighter jets of the Russian Air Force destroyed a convoy for the Islamic State en route to Deir Ezzor, where terrorists try to regroup themselves,” Russian Ministry of Defense said.

The statement published by the MoD stated that the airstrikes killed up to 200 militants, and destroyed more than 20 vehicles fitted with machineguns and grenade launchers, as well as tanks and armored vehicles.

The Islamic State is trying to regroup its fighters in the eastern city of Deir Ezzor following the successive defeats in the southern countryside of Raqqa and east Homs.
