Landmines kill scores of civilians fleeing ISIS territories in northeastern Syria

At least 10 civilians were killed, 28 others injured while attempting to escape the Islamic State-held areas in northeastern Syria.

According to local activists, the victims fled their villages in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor and were heading to the northeastern city of Hasakah when passed through a minefield set up by ISIS.

Women and children account for a great number of the victims, according to the same activists.

ISIS reign is increasingly shrinking with the Syrian Army – backed by allied forces – continues to grab more land from the terror organization in different parts of Syria.
