3 Lebanese soldiers killed in landmine explosion along Syrian borders

Three Lebanese soldiers were killed, another one injured when a landmine went off in Ras Baalbak along the borders with Syria, a Lebanese Army official said.

“An army vehicle was hit by a landmine on the al-Ajsa road roundabout in Jurud Arsal at noon today, killing three soldiers and injuring one soldier seriously,” the army said in a statement, according to the French news agency, AFP.

The explosion occurred as the Lebanese Army began a wide-scale offensive against the Islamic State as in conjunction with another battles launched by the Hezbollah and the Syrian Army.
