PHOTOS: Syrian Army foils ISIS counter-attack in northern Deir Ezzor.

Recently, The Syrian Forces – in coordination with tribal fighters – have established full control over the town of Al-Tabni; located 45 km northern Deir Ezzor city, on the western bank of the Euphrates.

Today afternoon, jihadists of the Islamic state launched counter-offensive to recapture the town from the Syrian Army.

The Syrian units at Al-Tabni were able to thwart ISIS assault, destroying multiple VBIEDs, killing several militants.

In related context, The Army has newly initiated an operation in Deir Ezzor, storming the strategic Sakr island on the Euphrates river.
