Syrian Army presses forward in west Aleppo , liberates strategic key base (map)
The situation in northwestern Syria is getting worse by the day for the militant forces, as they now find themselves on the verge of losing their last supply line between Idlib and Aleppo.
The battle for the 46th Regiment Base was short-lived this week, as the Syrian Arab Army managed to capture their installation in a powerful sweep of this part of southwestern Aleppo.
According to a field source in the Aleppo Governorate, the Syrian Arab Army captured the 46th Regiment Base and a nearby town uram al-sugrah after heavy clashed with the jihadist in the area.
Syrian military source told muraselon news that the Syrian Arab Army is 3 km only to strategic town of Al-Atareb, which is located along the main road between Aleppo and Reyhanli (Turkish city).
Should the Syrian Army capture Al-Atareb and push Sarmada, the entire militant-held pocket in northwestern Syria will be split in two, with Aleppo and Idlib only being accessible from Turkish territories.
It is not clear whether or not the Syrian military will attempt to seize the areas west of Al-Atareb.
