Syrian Army captures strategic town, enters new region in northwest Hama (Map + Video)

The Syrian Arab Army has imposed full control over strategic and rebel stronghold of Hwaiz in the northwestern countryside of Hama province.
Field source told Muraselon News that the Syrian army led by elite Tiger Forces managed after heavy missile and artillery shelling to enter strategic Hwaiz area and impose full control over the three towns located there including Hwaiz Fouqa, Hwaiz Tahta and Hwaiz Hurayah.
According to the source, militants led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham tried to stop the army from advancing by launching tens of ATGMs Anti-tank guided missile toward the troops vehicles and movements, however this didn’t stop SAA from capturing the area.
The source added that at least 25 jihadist rebels were killed in the clashes, also couple of ATGMs launchers were destroyed including two US-made Tow missile launchers as well as at least 2 technical vehicles.
The importance of capturing Hwaiz comes from its strategic place where it serves as the main entrance to al-Ghab Plain in northwestern Hama, also it used to be the main jihadists hub in the area where militants used to launch tens of missiles and shells from it toward the government-held towns in northern Hama.
Last week, the Syrian army has launched their long awaited offensive against militant groups which aim to capture the demilitarized zone that expands between Latakia, Hama and Idlib provinces.
