In Video : Russia unveils new deadly submarine

The Russian Navy has released a footage of a new Borei-class nuclear ballistic missile submarine for the Day of the Russian Submariner, celebrated in Russia on March 19.

Footage shows the Borei-class submarine’s crew getting ready for departure as well as the submarine moving at water surface at full speed.

Footage also shows the Lada-class submarine in a floating dock. The Lada-class submarine is reported to be an improved version of the Project 636 Kilo class, with new, quieter combat systems as well as possible air-independent propulsion.

The ‘Kronstadt’ Lada-class was set afloat in 2018 and is planned to go into service in 2020.

According to the MoD, Russia has launched mass production of project 636.3 and 677 non-nuclear submarines, as well as nuclear submarines of the Yasen and Borei class, which should become the basis of the country’s Navy forces.

According to an MoD press release, the grouping of naval strategic nuclear forces is supported by the construction of new Borei-type nuclear missile carriers equipped with Bulava ballistic missiles.
