A Sputnik correspondent reported an attack on the north-eastern Lattakia countryside by terrorists from Jabhat al-Nusra, Turkistan Islamic Party and the Turkistan Coastal Division.
The attack was launched from the direction of Kubani towards military points on the axis of Abu Ali Mountain (Castle Hill), killing one Syrian soldier and wounding six others.
The source added that the Syrian troops operating on the axis of Turkman Mount in the north-eastern countryside of Lattakia foiled a large-scale attack by the militants from Jabhat al-Nusra on the military positions in Abu Ali Mountain, known as” Castle 1 “.
The source noted that the terrorist groups tried to sneak into the Syrian army positions, exploiting bad weather conditions and lack of vision.
The source added: “The reconnaissance units of the Syrian army managed to detect this infiltration attempt where violent clashes took place between the army units and the militants resulted in the killing and wounding of a number of militants, while the remaining of them retreated towards their areas in Kubani of north-eastern Lattakia countryside adjacent to the south-western countryside of Idlib.”
