Commander of the Russian Navy, Admiral Vladimir Korolyov announced that Russian forces had finished testing a new anti-aircraft missile system.
The new missile system “Poliment-Redut” described by some media as “the destroyer of US-made Tomahawk missiles” was designed to protect Russian fleet ships from hostile aircraft and missiles and could be used on the ground as well.
The “Poliment-Redut” system can intercept targets 150 kilometers away. It is expected that in the next few years the system will receive a missile capable of destroying targets 400 kilometers away.
The military expert Dmitry Kornev, speaking to the RT channel, said that The Poliment-Redut missiles can hit targets without the intervention by the system’s crew after launch.
The makers of the “Poliment-Redut” system have benefited from the best of the S-300 and S-400 surface-to-air missile systems.
The new system uses the launcher of the Kalibr and Onyx missiles. Its 9M100, 9M96 and 9M96D guided missiles are capable of destroying supersonic aircrafts and missiles.
