At least one person was shot dead and six others injured, when a gunman opened fire in the southern French island of Corsica.
The French daily Le Figaro said on Wednesday, “a man opened fire on pedestrians in the street in the Lubinu area, south of Bastia. According to preliminary information, the person, described by the authorities as a sniper, was also armed with a knife, killed at least one person and wounded six other.”
According to “France Presse”, the Prosecutor of Bastia Association, Caroline Tharot, arrived at the crime scene, and announced that a policeman was also injured and taken to the hospital.
“Police units arrived at the scene and are now trying to control the shooter, whose motives are still unknown, the agency added.
