Officials: Trump decision to withdraw troops from Syria includes halting air force activity

US President Donald Trump ‘s decision to withdraw troops from Syria includes stopping US air strikes there, according to US sources.

The statement came as officials told “Reuters” on condition of anonymity.

Earlier on Thursday, Trump defended his surprise decision to declare victory over “ISIS” and withdraw US troops entirely from Syria amid criticism from Republicans and some US military commanders.

Trump said in a series of tweets early on that he was fulfilling a promise he made during his campaign in 2016 to leave Syria.
