Afrin : Renegade rebels surrender to Turkish military
For two days, the Turkish military and allied opposition forces linked to the Ankara-backed National Army have been engaged in a major “security” operation against “corrupt” rebel elements operating in the north Syrian city of Afrin.
On Sunday, heavy clashes took place in Afrin and video footage proved that medium weapons and military vehicles used in the battle. The number of casualties suffered from firefights are still unclear.
There are now also report that formal surrender agreement has been reached between the warring factions – Turkey and its allies have emerged as the winner.
The corrupt opposition elements targeted by the Turkish operation are responsible for running prostitution rings and being involved in the organized rape of women and children, looting and illegal racketeering of various kinds.
