North Korean leader Kim Jong Un congratulates Syria’s Assad

North Korean President Kim Jong Un has sent a message of congratulations to his Syrian counterpart, Bashar al-Assad, on the 48th anniversary of Corrective Revolution.

“On this occasion [the 48th anniversary of the Corrective Revolution], I sincerely wish your government and your people more success in paralyzing and thwarting the plots of hostile forces and maintaining the independence, security and territorial integrity of the country,” the Korean leader stated in his message.

On the 16th of November 1970, Hafez al-Assad (Bashar al-Assad’s father) established a new government in Syria and implemented a series of political, economic and foreign policy reforms which changed the course of Syria’s domestic affairs and relations with other nations in the region.
