ISIS turns the table on SDF , snatching grounds in eastern Euphrates
On Sunday, ISIS terrorist organization made remarkable progress in eastern Deir Ezzor. killing a number of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) militias, as dozens of people were arrested.
According to sources, Daesh has made significant progress on the outskirts of “Bahra”, east of Deir Ezzor, after battles with SDF in the region.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory (SOHR) said that clashes broke out between ISIS and SDF fighters on the outskirts of Hajin, east of Deir Ezzor, where ISIS squad infuriated the SDF positions there.
The causalities on the Kurdish side were 12 killed as 20 others injured according to SOHR.
The sources pointed out that “Daesh” took advantage of the bad weather conditions and the abundance of rainfall and fog in the region, to carry out an attack resulted in progress on the outskirts of Al-bahra area.
ISIS launched its surprise offensive by blowing up booby-trapped vehicles and detonating suicide bombers with explosive belts, in addition to using armored vehicles, according to sources.
The presence of ISIL is limited to some enclaves in the vicinity of Abu Kamal and on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River on the Syrian-Iraqi border, after losing the majority of its territories as a result of successful campaigns by the Syrian army propelled by Russian air-forces, and SDF supported by The Washington-led international coalition.
