Crimea president proposes to establish joint airline with Syria
The President of the Crimea, Sergei Axyonov, proposed to the head of the Syrian government Emad Khamis, the establish of a joint airline.
“The second issue that needs to be solved is the resumption of flights between Simferopol and Damascus,” Axionov said at the start of his meeting on Thursday.
The head of the Russian Crimean republic Sergei Axinov announced on Monday that the establishment of a joint shipping company with Syria is necessary for the maritime transport of military goods and humanitarian aid, noting that the proposal was agreed with the Russian Ministry of Defense and Foreign Affairs.
As for his part, the Crimea Minister of tourism Vadim Volchenko said Tuesday that the President of the Crimea Sergey Aksyonov issued instructions to study the possibility of organizing direct flights between Simferopol and Damascus and working on this issue with the Russian Ministry of Transport and the Federal Aviation Agency.
He noted that the possible decision on direct flights between Simferopol and Damascus will be taken after detailed study between the two countries.
The Crimean delegation arrived in Damascus on Monday (October 15th) for a two-day official visit to hold talks and sign agreements for economic, scientific and technical cooperation.
