Syrian Army advances against ISIS in southern Damascus – Map Update
The Syrian forces fighting the Islamic State – ISIS in southern Damascus managed to achieve substantial advances in and around the group’s main bastion of al-Hajar al-Aswad, a military source told MURASELON.
The same source reported fierce battles currently taking place in the southern and western axis of al-Hajar al-Aswad district, namely al-Jourah, Asali and al-Madniyah neighborhoods.
Sources embedded with the Syrian Army confirmed that government troops recaptured a number of buildings inside al-Jourah and al-Madniyah neighborhoods amid a wide-scale military operation to fully reclaim the area.

he Syrian Army established control over several farms which separate al-Hajar al-Aswad from Yalda town as other units destroyed a network of tunnels used by militants of the Islamic State.
In the same context, the Syrian forces were capable of re-taking Imam Ali Mosque located southeast of Tadamun district amid heavy clashes in Thalatheen Street to the west.
Meanwhile, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that at least 12 militants from Jaysh al-Islam rebel group were killed by an airstrike in al-Zeen neighborhood.
Reinforcements from the SAA’s Tiger Forces arrived at the frontlines in southern Damascus to help in the battles against ISIS after concluding its latest mission in East Qalamoun.
