Syrian Army takes key ISIS-held town in east Homs
Syria’s government forces have fully recaptured the town of Humaymah located in the far eastern Homs countryside following fierce battles with the Islamic State.
A military source declared that the Army’s engineering units began demining the explosives and IEDs planted across the town following the withdrawal of militants.
Located just 15 km to the administrative borders of Deir Ezzor neat the strategic T2 pumping station, the town served as a major bastion for the ultraconservative group in the Syrian Desert.
The advance is part of a wider offensive launched by the Syrian Army which mainly aims at lifting a 3-year siege on the eastern city of Deir Ezzor.
